Jason Coffey: Marine Corps Vet punching his way through PTSD! How MMA & Combat Sports changed his life!

Jason Coffey— Joined the Marines right out of high school—getting out in 2012, after 3 deployments, as Aviation Ordinance Tech on F-18s, the Huey and Cobras.

He was a high school wrestler and continued his training with Marine Corps martial arts, along with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and kick boxing. Also, competed in numerous area grappling tournaments.

While transitioning out of the Marine Corps, he found himself dealing with PTSD and Mental Health issues and then found MMA again with some great coaches, great gyms and great results.

He lost 30 pounds while training 6 hours a day and won his latest fight at 215lbs, just shy of 40years old.

Hear what the Marine Corps taught him, took from him and what MMA helped him find again!

My listeners know I owned 3 MMA gyms— I had Golden Gloves boxers, Marine Corps Boxing coaches, Marine Corps wrestling coaches, Muay Tai experts, Judo black belts—all in the gym training my guys. I saw their transformation, discipline and confidence and all of it helped with their PTSD.

I was also an MMA Judge for the State of GA Boxing Commissioner Andy Foster & I promoted many MMA events… one being the first and only ever MMA event ever for troops in Mosul, Iraq. I’ve been in Fight magazine and on Fox Sports twice.

This episode was so fun for me to talk to a Marine and hear all about how Boxing & MMA affected his life.

Co-Host, my husband, retired Marine Lt Col David Sanford
